My paintings take delight in the simple beauty of everyday objects, in the richness of the natural world, and human emotion. I see that beauty in color - in the subtle shifts of tint, shade, and tone as light turns into shadow across lemon peel, or in the light that catches the translucent interior of a lemon and glows. My goal in creating artwork is to offer the viewer a simple challenge—to take a longer look and see ordinary, quotidian subjects, whether still-life, landscape, or figural scene as profoundly beautiful.Dina Anchin started painting still lifes while training to be a conservator at the Mauritshuis, Netherlands. Inspired by the techniques of the Dutch Old Masters, she simultaneously began to create her own, and embarked on a new phase of her artistic career. Today she works in a variety of media including oil paint, graphite, and watercolor, painting still-lifes, landscapes, and portraiture.
